What is Kawakawa, and why is it used in skincare?
Kawakawa is a native New Zealand plant known for its natural anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and skin-calming properties. We slow-infuse wildcrafted kawakawa leaves for 6–8 weeks to extract their healing benefits, ideal for eczema-prone, sensitive, or inflamed skin.
Why do you also use herbs like Calendula, Chickweed, and Comfrey with Kawakawa?
These herbs each offer unique benefits that enhance Kawakawa’s healing power. Calendula is rich in antioxidants and supports skin repair. Chickweed soothes itchiness and irritation. Comfrey contains allantoin, known to help stimulate cell regeneration. Together, they create a powerful synergy — boosting the anti-inflammatory, soothing, and restorative qualities of our skincare formulas. You’ll find these blends in many of our balms, soaps, and serums for added skin support.
Are your products suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes. All our formulas are crafted with gentle botanicals like Kawakawa, Calendula, and Chickweed. We avoid synthetic fragrances, harsh preservatives, and drying alcohols — making them ideal for those with sensitive, allergy-prone, or reactive skin types.
What makes your Kawakawa products different?
We don’t use fillers or shortcuts. Every product is handmade in Aotearoa using wild NZ kawakawa, nutrient-rich oils, and hydrosols instead of plain water. Our cold-infusion method preserves more of the plant’s skin-supportive compounds.
What are the most common kawakawa balm uses?
Our kawakawa balm is a multipurpose remedy for dry skin, eczema, dermatitis, insect bites, sunburn, and nappy rash. It’s safe for all ages — including babies — and deeply nourishing without being greasy. Read more about our Kawakawa Balm here.
Are your kawakawa products 100% natural?
Absolutely. We only use whole-plant extracts, herbal infusions, raw oils, and natural waxes. No petrochemicals, silicones, parabens, or synthetic preservatives.
Are your products vegan?
Most are (tallow soap and beeswax is the only exception, we do also use candellia wax but it is firmer in texture). We clearly label every ingredient. Some balms include beeswax for its protective skin barrier benefits — all other ingredients are plant-based.
Can I use kawakawa balm on babies or during pregnancy?
Yes — our essential oil–free kawakawa balm is ideal for babies, children, and during pregnancy. We recommend patch testing if your skin is highly sensitive, as with any natural product.
How long will my kawakawa product last?
Our balms and oil-based products last 6–12 months when stored in a cool, dry place. We make everything in small batches so it arrives fresh.
Where are your products made?
All of our products are handmade in New Zealand. We grow and wild-harvest many of the herbs ourselves, then infuse, blend, and pour each batch with care.
Do you ship internationally?
We currently ship throughout New Zealand. International shipping options are coming soon — please sign up to our newsletter for updates.
